Beach
The enchanted bay,
sport and meditation
Born in the 1960s, the Barbatoja bathing establishment is located on Fetovaia beach, in the Gulf of Barbatoja. The bay of Fetovaia, sheltered by a strip of land approximately 1 km long, is a natural swimming pool particularly suitable for swimming, diving, snorkelling, freediving and water sports in general. The beach, surrounded by rich vegetation, lends itself to the practice of yoga and meditation: a natural gym ideal for practicing outdoor sports and fitness.
Finally, the paths that connect to the GTE (Grande Traversata Elbana) start from Fetovaia to cross the island from west to east practicing trekking and mountain biking.
Beach
A bathhouse
completely eco-sustainable
At Barbatoja the beach season opens in April and closes in October. Barbatoja is the only beach establishment in Fetovaia to offer a space of approximately 10m2 for each umbrella, also equipped with a special table for relaxing lunches under its own shade. The Bistro offers service at the umbrella. The bathrooms, completely eco-sustainable, are characterized by umbrellas in natural mat and wood, as are the cabins and the Bistro, in full respect of the environment and the traditions of the area.
Parking
Eco-sustainable parking and
Ansonica vines
The car park of the Bathing Establishment, located at the entrance to Fetovaia beach, is completely eco-sustainable with structures made of chestnut and bamboo.
But what makes it a truly “special” car park are the Ansonica vines planted at the foot of each chestnut pole that divides the individual parking spaces, giving Fetovaia a typical product and the oldest native vine. In fact, once upon a time the town looked like a large vineyard right up to the beach: a precious return to the origins that re-evaluates and enhances the local environment and food and wine heritage.
